Dual Forms & Gel Tips

Express extensions for a busy salon — fast, clean, and holding

1 day

Theory, demonstration and two models — the express methods in full.

3–8 masters

Or one-on-one. On-site at your salon from three masters.

Practicing masters

Confident coating is enough — you do not need sculpting experience.

from €260

Euro or złoty. One-on-one costs the same as for three students.

This is a different craft from sculpting on templates

Dual forms and gel tips are the salon answer to “I have forty minutes”. They are faster than template sculpting — and they punish sloppiness much harder. Almost every failure comes from the same handful of mistakes.

Air pockets

Too little material and the tip lifts within a week. Too much and the base floods the side walls. There is a right amount and I will show you what it looks like.

The arch does not match

If the arch of the tip and the arch of the nail disagree, nothing will save that nail. There is a way to fix it in two seconds — most masters do not know it.

Wrong form for the nail

Eagle-shaped, arched, flat and trampoline nails each need a different curve. Choosing by eye is why your results are inconsistent.

Clear gel nail tips arranged in a graduated arc

What you will be able to do

  • Identify the nail type and pick the dual form curve that fits it — including the “ballet” form for flat and trampoline nails
  • Prepare the nail properly for dual form work, using an elastic rubber base you can actually trust
  • Lay out gel: paint the form, mark the length, concentrate the main drop in the stress zone, keep 0.5 mm on the side walls
  • Lay out acrygel and polygel with a moistened brush without it dragging
  • Place the form without pressing, cure it correctly in two stages, and finish the free edge
  • Fit gel tips on the correct third of the nail with a matched arch and no air pockets
  • Prepare a tip before gluing and reinforce it with hard gel so it survives real life

The programme

Choosing a dual form by nail type

Eagle-shaped nails need a stronger curve. Arched nails need only a slight one. Flat nails, trampolines and nails with a shallow arch suit a classic curve — and the “ballet” form, which is neither flat nor over-arched, fits most of them. The longer the nail, the more arched the form must be. Nails that grow downward are quite arched and need a pronounced curve.

Preparing the nail

Standard preparation as for a coating: removal, manicure (combi or e-file, without cutting the cuticle), buffing, degreasing, dehydrator, primer, base. The base must be one you trust one hundred per cent — an elastic rubber base is the safest choice here.

Two checks before you lay anything out

The form must fully cover the side walls of the nail, and the arches of the nail and the form must agree with each other. If either is wrong, stop and change the form.

Working with gel

Take a small amount on the brush, paint the form and mark the length. Take a small ball of gel and spread it along the form. Concentrate the main drop in the centre of the tip — that is the stress zone and it is the frame of the nail. At least 0.5 mm along the side walls. Place the form on the nail without pressing, centre it, cure two to three seconds, turn the finger over, distribute the material to the free edge, then cure fully.

Working with acrygel and polygel

Squeeze out what you need, moisten the brush and press it out on a tissue, then press and spread the material with half the brush to fill the form. At least 0.5 mm on the side walls and in the cuticle zone. Place, centre, turn the finger, distribute to the edge, cure.

Gel tips — the twelve mistakes

A dirty manicure. Coating not fully removed. Wrong tip size. Mismatched arch — and how to reshape a tip by squeezing it and transferring it to the nail immediately. Buffing the nail with a file instead of a buffer. Not using a rubber or dedicated tip base. Losing control of the amount of material. Pressing on the tip. Placing it on the wrong third of the nail. Skipping reinforcement with hard gel. Skipping tip preparation — filing the contact zone, priming, or simply degreasing a matte zone. Forgetting to matte the tip after shaping and before applying material.

How the day is built

Morning

Theory: nail types, form selection, materials, the mistakes list.

Demonstration

I do both methods in front of you — dual form and gel tip — start to finish.

Model one

You work; I correct the amount of material, the placement and the pressure.

Model two

Speed. Because in a salon this technique only pays if it is fast.

What is included

  • Theory materials including the full mistakes checklist
  • Two models arranged for you
  • All forms, tips, gels and consumables
  • A certificate of completion
  • My support afterwards while you put the method into your price list

Taking this together with sculpting?

These two courses do not overlap. Template sculpting builds a nail from nothing and gives you full control of the architecture; dual forms and tips give you speed in a salon day.

Most masters end up using both — sculpting for complex cases, express methods for everything else. If you want to take them together, write to me and we will arrange it.

Questions I get asked

Are gel tips really professional, or is that a home method?

Done properly they are a legitimate salon technique — fast, comfortable for the client and durable. Done badly they lift in a week and give the method its bad reputation. The difference is entirely in the twelve details we go through.

Do I need sculpting experience first?

No. Confident coating is enough. Many masters actually start here and add template sculpting later.

Which brand of forms and tips do you work with?

I will show you what I use and, more importantly, what to look at when choosing — curve, thickness, contact zone, and how the material behaves on it.

Can you run this at our salon?

Yes, from three masters. I send a checklist of what each workstation needs.

What language?

Ukrainian, easily followed by Russian speakers. Polish or English on request with an interpreter, paid separately.
